MANSEHRA, March 31: Elected representatives of local bodies in the upper Tanawal area have said that a Piyam-i-Aman conference will be held on April 10 in Perhenna at the Thakar Mera ground to protest against activities of a local leader of the outlawed Harkatul Mujahideen. Speaking at a press conference here on Thursday, Syed Nooran Shah, Nazim, and Jamshed Khan, Naib Nazim, of union council Perhenna; Syed Matloob Shah, Nazim of union council Phulra and member of Mansehra Tehsil Council, Ibrar Khan, alleged that the Harkat leader, Mujahid Mohyuddin had unleashed a reign of terror in the Tanawal Valley with the help of hundreds of militants.

They alleged that Mohyuddin was training youths of the area in his village, Nara Doga, who in future would further aggravate the law and order situation in Tanawal Valley. They alleged that the militants of Harkat were seen wielding arms in funeral processions and on other occasions in the area but the law-enforcement agencies were taking no notice of their activities.

They said militants of Harkat attacked the house of Naib Nazim Jamshed Khan and also stormed the district courts and publicly abused women judges. However, law-enforcement personnel ignore their activities. They said that they were left with no option but to convene the Piyam-i-Aman conference to protest against the high-handedness of Mujahid Mohyuddin and the Harkat militants.
