Show-cause notices to PML-N defectors

LAHORE, March 31: Two PML-N MPAs who changed their loyalties to join hands with the ruling party were issued show-cause notices on Thursday requiring them to explain their position within three days or face disqualification. The party’s parliamentary party leader Rana Sanaullah Khan, who issued the notices to Ahad Malik and Begum Rehana Jameel, has informed Mian Nawaz Sharif about the proceedings he has started.

In case the two legislators don’t respond or their replies are found unsatisfactory, Rana will refer their matter to the PA speaker that he send a reference for their disqualification to the Election Commission. Both the alleged defectors sit with the ruling party members although they never applied to the speaker to exclude them from the PML-N strength.

The notice says that under Article 63 (A) of the Constitution both the members after being elected on the PML-N tickets are duty-bound to follow the party discipline and instructions issued by the parliamentary party leader on various occasions. But, it says, both are violating the party policy.

The notice alleges that both of the MPs have joined the ruling party. Rana Sanaullah Khan will declare the pair as defectors in case they don’t come up with a satisfactory response within three days.
