BANGALORE, March 26: Indian hero Virender Sehwag cracked a double century on Saturday, dedicated it to his wife, and then said that the Chinnaswamy Stadium pitch was not a good Test wicket.

“How can one call it a good Test pitch when more than 900 runs have been scored on it in three days,” he remarked after his marathon innings of 201.

“A fine wicket for the longer version of the game is one that favours both the batsmen and the bowlers”, pointed out the hard-hitting batsman who has the distinction of being the only Indian to have struck a triple century.

Sehwag, whose powerful 173 at Mohali was the one of the highlights of the first Test, said that he was happy to have played such an innings.

“It feels good when you do well and it is not that I am smiling because my double century has come against Pakistan, in fact my aim has always been to score runs against any team.”

“Obviously this knock is better than 173 for it is a double century but it hurt me when I got dismissed today, it was a loss in concentration.”

Sehwag fell victim to leg spinner Danish Kaneria – caught and bowled – shortly after completing his second Test double century.

“I think a gap of an over after that should have helped me.” No Pakistani bowler impressed Sehwag, who dominated the attack with an aggressive display. “I don’t think any one was impressive today.

My aim was to hit only the loose balls that came my way.” He hoped that India would be able to do well on the fourth day. “Much would depend on how things go tomorrow.”
