BAJAUR, May 30: Many farmers of Bajaur Agency, who failed to pay back the loans of the Agriculture Development Bank of Pakistan (ADBP), have either migrated to other places or remained confined to their homes for fear of arrest.
A survey of Dawn shows that the farmers had received loans ranging between the amounts of Rs25,000 and Rs50,000, but they could not achieve the desired yield owing to the persisting drought in the areas and fell short of their commitments.
Around Rs40 million mark-up has also been accumulated on the loans received by the farmers, till date.
