SIALKOT, May 30: The UN observers based in Sialkot visited on Thursday villages damaged by Indian shelling.

Official sources told Dawn that the observers expressed grave concern over the killing of innocent civilians and damage to their properties due to heavy Indian shelling.

The UN observers also visited CMH to inquire after the health of the injured people.

They strongly condemned the Indian aggression which claimed the lives of innocent people.

Sources claimed that the observers sent a comprehensive report to their head office in New York. They also recommended a relief package for the victims. They suggested that India should be pressurised to stop killing innocent people in Kashmir.

DAMAGE: Six buffaloes, three cows, two horses, one donkey and five goats were killed, while more than 65 houses were damaged by Indian shelling on Pakistani villages.

The Indian Border Security Force on Thursday fired more than 126 mortar and artillery shells on border villages in Chhumb Jorrian, Bajwat, Bajragarhi, Charwa, Chaprar, Harpal, Sucheetgarh, Jammu, Akhnoor, Saamba, Zafarwal and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors.

The Chenab Rangers retaliated in Jammu and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors, killing four Indian soldiers, destroying six pillars, 16 bunkers, two ammunition vehicles, besides causing heavy loss to the enemy early on Thursday morning.

The firing between the Chenab Rangers and Indian forces was continuing till the filling of this report late at night.
