CBR imposes penalty on official

ISLAMABAD, March 11: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) has imposed a minor penalty of ‘censure’ on Azizuddin Ahmad, director, Directorate General of Inspection and Internal Audit (Customs and Excise), Karachi.

An official notification issued on Friday said the director would have the right of appeal to the Appellate Authority under the Removal from Service (Special Powers) Ordinance, 2000 within a period of 15 days from the date of communication/publication of this ordinance.

The CBR had constituted an inquiry team to look into the allegation levelled against the officer. The committee submitted its report that there was insufficient material evidence available on record to prove the alleged guilt of the accused officer.

However, after examining the case record, replying to the show-cause notice and affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the accused officer, the CBR imposed a penalty on him.
