SUKKUR, March 4: Fifteen people of two rival groups were kidnapped after a member of the Sundrani clan had been arrested by police.
Tooh Sundrani was arrested on Thursday after which people of his clan attacked Dur Mohammad Chachar village and kidnapped four people.
They were identified as Motan, son of Pathan Chachar, Hussain, son of Dur Mohammad Chachar, Shakoor, son of Ali Murad Chachar and Khushhal, son of Dodo Chachar. It was claimed that a brother of Tooh Sundrani was allegedly involved in a kidnapping. The police despite several attempts of negotiations with Sundranis failed to recover hostages.
A heavy contingent of armed Chachars attacked Qadirpur village. They looted various shops and medical stores and kidnapped Ghulam Sarwar Sundrani, son of Haji Abdullah Sundrani and Sadaruddin Sundrani, son of Muhabat Ali Sundrani.
They also attacked on Khawand Bux Sundrani village and kidnapped Khawand Bux Sundrani, Alam Sundrani, Ashraf Sundrani, Raza Mohammad Sundrani and others. Later, the Sundrani force forced upon the police to release Tooh Sundrani who was brought to the camp of the force and negotiations were underway for cease fire and release of all hostages.
When contacted, DPO Ghotki Agha Tahir was not available to comment over the situation but TPO Niaz Chandio told newsmen that the agreement had reached between both the two groups and hostages would be released very shortly.
All business centres of the area were closed while people were confined to their homes and harassment and panic prevailed in the area. Clashes between the two groups started in entire the district due to which several persons from the either side were injured.
