LARKANA: Labourer injured in blast

LARKANA, March 3: A worker was injured when a bomb exploded near the Ali Goharabad police post here on Thursday. The half a kilogram bomb went off when Yamin Jatoi was digging the ground for construction of a wall of a house , City ASP Gohar Mushtaq told Dawn.

He said the worker received injuries on his legs, arms and face and was admitted to the Chandka Medical College Hospital. The area was vacated after the incident. Bomb disposal squad in charge Tahir Mehmood was called from Sukkur who inspected the site and the explosive material.

He claimed that there could have been 20 times bigger explosion had the bomb been exploded with a detonator. The ASP said the owner of the house, Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto, had been picked up for interrogation. A source said a councillor, Ghulam Haider Bhutto, had also been taken into custody. The Market police registered a case on behalf of the state.
