KARACHI: 10 new colleges for city

KARACHI, Feb 28: A 25-member delegation of women councillors from various districts of Punjab, including Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Bahawalpur, Muzaffargarh and Lodhran , on Monday visited the City District Government Karachi Secretariat and attended a breifing.

Senior Presiding Officer, City Council Karachi Muslim Pervez, briefed the delegation about performance, administrative structure and development projects initiated by the City District Government Karachi.

Muslim Pervez told the vesting delegation that the CDGK was giving special emphasis to Karachi's infrastructure development besides improving health and education sectors.

Every year, 10 new colleges are being established in Karachi and for the first time in Pakistan, the CDGK has allocated 31 to 33 per cent of its annual budget for education, he informed, adding immediate action is taken on resolutions tabled by women councillors in the city council, he added.

He further informed that the Women Sports Complex was being constructed at Gulshan-i-Iqbal through the joint efforts of women councillors of the city. Project Director, Tameer-i-Karachi Programme, Rauf Akhtar Farooqi said construction work of Korangi Flyover at Hino Chowk had been started.

He also informed the delegation about pace of ongoing development projects of Tameer-i-Karachi Programme. Chairman, Education Committee Rehana Afroze, Shamim Mumtaz Wasi, a lady councillor of Karachi, also spoke. - PPI
