SARGODHA, May 29: Police have failed to control crime in the city, social worker Khalid Iqbal Mussarat alleged while talking to newsmen on Wednesday.

He said that police have yet to find any clue to a student abducted for ransom on May 20. Three children were killed during the last week and police said that they were unable to find any clue to the killers because parents did not allow autopsy.

He further alleged that his motorcycle was stolen from outside his house.

Muhammad Imran Khan, an MA English student, was forcibly taken away from his house on May 20 by some unidentified men who later demanded ransom for his release.

An abduction case was registered by police but no clue could be found to the missing boy yet.

Meanwhile, it was learnt that another student of a local college has been missing for the last couple of days.

A police spokesman said that a team headed by a DSP and comprising four SHOs has arrested about half dozen friends of the missing boy for interrogation.

WATER THEFT: Farmers have alleged that the influential landlords were still stealing water with the collaboration of irrigation department staff.

Talking to Dawn here on Wednesday, they said that the influential landlord make cuts in the water channels with the help of irrigation officials and deprived the tale-end farmers of their due share.

When contacted, Irrigation Department’s Sahiwal XEN said that a sum of Rs1 million was recovered from 222 farmers who were involved in water theft. Complaints of water theft was lodged with police against 500 water thieves but police took action against 55 people.
