KARACHI: Book fair begins at Sadequain Lawns

KARACHI, Feb 22: An overwhelming majority of students belonging to various educational institutions of the city visited the book fair held by the students of the NED University of Engineering and Technology at the Sadequain Lawns.

The three-day book fair being held under auspices of Study Aid Project (SAP) was inaugurated by Amir Jamat-i-Islami (JI), Karachi, Dr Merajul Huda Siddiqui.

Sindh President Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) MNA Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, and MNA Mohammad Hussain Mehnti were also present on the occasion while Liaquatbad Town Nazim Dr Pervez Mahmood, Hamdard Foundation President Ms Sadia Rashid, lawyers, academicians and people from other walks of life also visited the fair.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony JI Karachi Amir lauded the efforts of the students for holding the book fair and provision of engineering and other books on subsidized rates.

He urged the heads of educational institutions to allow holding of book fairs at their campuses instead of allowing musical concerts and other non-productive events. Organizer of the book fair, Azfar Riaz informed that books were being provided on 25 per cent discount. -PPI
