LAHORE, Feb 18: President Gen Pervez Musharraf is annulling the blasphemy law and removing religious column from passport to please the US and divest the country of its ideology.

This was stated by the Jamaat-i-Islami amir Razi Husain Ahmad who was addressing the to a Friday congregation at Mansoora "Gen Musharraf is the biggest ally of the west against Islamic world and it is the duty of every Muslim to oppose him,'' he said.

He said the government had taken steps to neutralize the blasphemy law and the requirement of police investigation before registering a first Information Report (FIR) was one such step. It was now next to impossible to get an FIR registered.

The rulers, he blamed, also wanted to secularize the country and harm eastern values and culture. He said non-governmental organizations working for women issues were framing some recommendations that could destroy the moral fabric of our society. The JI would not allow such conspiracies to be hatched, he concluded.
