KHAIRPUR: Tube-well repair urged

KHAIRPUR, Feb 18: Residents of the Mudd village took out a procession in Sobhodero town on Friday in protest against officials of the Salinity Control and Rehabilitation Project.

Speaking on the occasion, Ghulam Asghar Kanasro said Scarp tube-wells, (DE-49) and (KE-44), were out of order for the last one year. He said that repeated complaints had been made to officials but no action had been taken in this regard.

He demanded that tube-wells should immediately be repaired. Meanwhile, farmers from Sobhodero taluka observed a token hunger strike to protest against water shortage in all water channels fed from the Faiz Wah.

Farmers from Gambat taluka took out a procession in Khuhra town on Friday in protest against sale of fertilizers on black rates. They told reporters that traders and dealers had created an artificial shortage to charge high prices from them.

Field assistants also took out a procession in Thari Mirwah town to protest against sale of fertilizers on black rates. They said the EDO agriculture had directed them to ensure sale of fertilizers on fixed price but dealers were selling fertilizers on black and threatening them not to raise objection against such practices.

PML: Activists of the Pakistan Muslim League staged a sit-in outside the press club here on Friday in favour of sacked provincial minister Imtiaz Shaikh. Speaking on the occasion, Syed Shakir Ali Shah said the action taken by the Sindh Chief Minister was undemocratic and unconstitutional.
