KARACHI, Feb 3: Pakistan Muslim League has decided that proper functions would be held on Friday for launching the membership drive in all districts where PML office bearers , ministers and members of the assembly would revive their membership by signing the membership form and paying its fee of two rupees.

This decision was taken by Sindh PML Chapter, which met on Wednesday at the PML House, with its Provincial Secretary General, Imtiaz Ahmad Shaikh in the chair and attended by provincial and district office bearers and members of the assembly.

According to the decision, the central function of the province would be held at the PML House which will be addressed by Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, who is also President of the Sindh Chapter.

Speaking at the meeting Mr Shaikh said that the PML was the only national party which was capable to take all sections of society along with it. He said in the first phase 15 lakh members would be enrolled in Sindh and in the next local bodies elections the PML would prove that it was the largest populist party in the province.

Provincial Vice President Al-haj Shamimuddin said that in the first phase, beginning from Feb 4 to March 31, enrolment of membership would be at the union council level.

MEDIA CENTRES: The PML Sindh Chapter Media Centre is being linked with the PML Media Centre in Islamabad to keep the central leadership informed about the party activities.

This was stated by PML Sindh Information Secretary Haleem Adil Shaikh. He said that after reorganization of the party, which is in progress in the province, the media centre would also be linked with every PML district chapter through computers to collect and disseminate major activities in all districts.

These centres, he said, where as would help the party to counter the opposition propaganda against the government, the centres would also help the party broadening its base.

In reply to a question Mr Shaikh said that efforts were being made to make the party popular from grassroots level by addressing their pressing problems. He said in the past no serious efforts were made to enrol the party membership as the officials used to fill the forms in their drawing rooms and making payment of the membership fees from their own pockets to get offices in the party.
