LANDI KOTAL, Feb 3: The Bara Peace Committee demolished on Thursday the house of the ring leader of a kidnappers' group in Mandi Kas-Sipah area.
Ring leader Sedak Zakhakhel is in the custody of Bara political administration for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of dental surgeon Sarwar Shah.
Sources in Bara said that Sedak Zakhakhel's three-room house was demolished by activists of the peace committee after his confession to authorities about his involvement in surgeon's abduction.
Two of Sedak accomplices, Lal Hussain and Hashmat, whose names he disclosed during investigations, were still at large. The authorities have reportedly sought the help of the peace committee in tracking down the two wanted men.
Another of their accomplice Naseer Khan is in the custody of Peshawar police. Dr Sarwar Shah was abducted by four accused in October last year and was later recovered by the authorities with the help of local elders and peace committee.
TRIBAL PROTEST: Nekkhel tribesmen in Landi Kotal came out on the road after a scuffle with a water tanker driver of the Frontier Constabulary on Thursday. The driver of the water tanker had reportedly pulled out his revolver at a wedding party after some children amongst the wedding procession threw fire crackers at his tanker.
This act of the children infuriated the driver, and after parking his vehicle in the middle of the road, he pulled out his pistol to scare away the erring children. In retaliation, residents of the area tried to block the Peshawar-Torkhum highway at Sultankhel to register their anger over the incident, but were pacified by elders of the area.
