ISLAMABAD: Boy dies of suffocation

ISLAMABAD, Feb 2: A boy died of suffocation while a woman and her daughter sustained burn injuries in separate incidents in the twin cities on Wednesday.

Police quoted Rana Zeeshan, a resident of F-8/3, as saying that his 17-year-old servant Mohammad Ashfaque went to sleep in his room where he ignited a brazier.

Later, gas produced by the coal-run heater filled the room and Ashfaque died of suffocation. The body was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for autopsy.

In anther incident, a woman, identified as Abida, and her four-year-old daughter suffered burn injuries after their house caught fire at Dhoke Rata, Ganjmandi.

A room of the house had been filled with gas due to leakage and when the woman struck a match, the room caught fire. People rescued the two after hearing their shrieks and shifted them to the Rawalpindi General Hospital.
