PESHAWAR, Jan 28: The passport circle of the Federal Investigation Agency has started inquiry into the case of a teenaged boy, who was deported by the British authorities two weeks ago, it was learnt.
Sixteen-year-old Sher Zaman, a resident of Jamrud in the Khyber Agency, had boarded a Heathrow-bound plane at the Peshawar airport on an allegedly forged British passport.
The British immigration authorities arrested Sher Zaman at the Heathrow airport and deported him the next day after confiscating his passport, officials said. The FIA's passport circle registered a case against Sher Zaman on Wednesday, 13 days after his return from England.
Sher Zaman was produced before a judicial magistrate on Thursday and was subsequently sent to the Peshawar Central Jail. Sher Zaman told investigators he did not know how he had got the fake British passport. But, he said his father had paid Rs700,000 for his travel to England, the sources maintained.
