HYDERABAD, Jan 26: The brother of Sahibdino Dal, who recently died in the lock-up of the Cantonment police station, has held police and some doctors of the Civil Hospital of Hyderabad responsible for the death of his brother.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday with his uncle Iqbal Dal, the editor of a Sindhi daily, Mohammad Sabir Dal said that carrying Rs10,000, his brother had left his village in Pithoro taluka of Umerkot district on January 13 for buying sanitary items from Hyderabad.
He said that Sahibdino went to a shop, Hussaini Traders, in Hyderabad, where a dispute over prices of sanitary items developed between him and the shop owner whose two sons, Imran and Asghar, fired at him.
According to Sabir, the shop owner handed Sahibdino over to police who tortured him to death in collusion with doctors. He appealed to the higher authorities to ensure justice to him.
Sahibdino was arrested by the Cantonment police on January 13 after he was fired at allegedly by the owner of the Hussaini Traders. He was admitted to the Civil Hospital of Hyderabad in serious condition and under went a major surgery. According to police, he was discharged by the hospital doctors on Jan 19. He died in the lock-up on Jan 21.
