KARACHI: Awareness stressed to check AIDS

KARACHI, Jan 26: Sindh Health Adviser Faisal Malik has stressed for prevention and eradication of AIDS from Pakistan through creating awareness among public at large.

Talking to a delegation at his office on Wednesday, he said that people of Pakistan should also be benefited from research-based modern modalities and methods of treatment and prevention strategies followed in other countries.

The delegation, led by Dr Ali Imran of New York Medical College and Columbia School for Public Health, was informed that the government had made amendments to the Blood Transfusion Act in order to stop transfusion of un screened blood, which had been affecting majority of innocent people.

"The prevention from AIDS is only possible through precautionary measures and our religion preaches us the same," he said adding that the government has taken many steps to monitor and improve the performance of health department. Later, the delegation invited Faisal Malik to visit New York, which he accepted. -PPI
