BADIN, Jan 19: Expressing solidarity with the people of Balochistan, District Nazim Kamal Khan Chang has opposed any military operation in Balochistan and warned that such an action can harm solidarity of the country.

Speaking at a press conference at his office here on Tuesday, he said that the army should go back to barracks and let the sensitive issues be resolved by politicians through talks with the Baloch leaders.

Mr Chang supported the demand of payment of royalty on natural resources to the respective provinces and said that he had talked to the chief of the Bugti tribe and the Jamhoori Watan Party, Nawab Akbar Bugti, on telephone and assured him of every help.

The nazim announced that he would launch a "Baloch Assistance Fund" in each district of Sindh for financial support of "the victims of the operation" and undertake a tour of Sindh after Eid for this purpose and added that he would personally deposit Rs100,000 in the fund.

He praised Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain for supporting the Baloch people at this crucial juncture. When asked whether he was talking in the capacity of district nazim, he replied that he was offering his point of view as a concerned citizen.
