ISLAMABAD, Jan 17: The Central Board of Revenue (CBR) and the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) allowing a two-year MBA degree in taxation management for the serving tax officials.

According to the MoU, grade 17 and above officers serving in field formations and the CBR would undergo this programme for updating their skills and performance.

The programme would comprise four segments. In the first segment, the IBA would award credit for the common training programme (CTP) held at the Civil Services Academy (CSA) Lahore, subject to the successful completion and passing of the final examination thereof. The IBA would consider the tenure at the CSA as one semester.

The IBA, in the second segment, would award credit for the specialized training programme (STP) held at the respective directorates of training and research of the income tax and customs, excise and sales tax, subject to the successful completion thereof and passing of the final passing-out examination conducted by the FPSC.

The third segment would be of 4-6 weeks duration. The officers nominated by the CBR would undergo intensive training for the fourth segment of the MBA programme.
