PESHAWAR, Jan 17: A television studio will be established at the University of Peshawar to train students of mass communication in electronic media affairs, says the university's Vice Chancellor Mumtaz Gul.
The department is already broadcasting programmes through its on-campus radio FM-107 and TV studio would be another training facility for the students, the VC said. University of Peshawar celebrated its first anniversary of the campus radio at department of journalism and mass communication.
Terming journalism and mass communication one of the most powerful and influential organs of society, vice-chancellor said that it played a vital role in moulding public opinion.
Highlighting the university's efforts in connection with the overall character- building of students, he said that the institution intended to equip them with theoretical knowledge side by side practical experience.
He asked the students to focus on their studies and master the English language. Earlier, Dean of the faculty of management and information sciences Dr Abdul Qayum appreciated the department's achievements and congratulated the faculty members on the successful completion of one year of the campus radio.
