Adnan crowned champion
KARACHI, Dec 31: Top seed Adnan Khan lifted the Pakistan Juniors tennis championship, when he outgunned Danish Ahmed 6-2, 6-3 at the Defence Sunset Club on Friday.
With a cold blistering wind blowing across the court due to the overnight rain, it took both players quite sometime to settle down. In a hard fought out first set with many games forced to deuce, left-hander Adnan went 1-0 ahead by claiming the set 6-2.
The second set was an absolute repeat of the first which Adnan won 6-3, to lift the Juniors crown. Danish teaming up with Ali Abdullah won the Juniors doubles crown, downing Jahangir Rashid and Mateen Arif without dropping a game.
Apart from the wind factor which created chaos on the court, Jahangir and Mateen contributed further to their 6-0, 6-0 drubbing by sending weak returns over the net and also failing to cash in on their service, signalling out Mateen as the weak link in the chain.
After the winners and runners-up were awarded trophies each of the 32 participating players in the tournament received a gift hamper from the organiser Arif Anis, which was appreciated by all the youngsters.
RESULTS:
JUNIORS SINGLES (FINAL): Adnan Khan beat Danish Ahmed 6-2, 6-3.
JUNIORS DOUBLES (FINAL): Danish Ahmed / Ali Abdullah bt Jahangir Rashid/Mateen Arif 6-0, 6-0.
