KARACHI: Schemes worth Rs250 million approved

KARACHI, Dec 30: The District Development Working Party has approved new development projects worth Rs250 million for various parts of the city.

A meeting of the DDWP held with DCO Fazlur Rahman in the chair, on Wednesday night approved these projects, to be funded by the city government and under the Annual Development Programme, 2004-05.

The schemes approved under the CDGK funds mainly pertained to installation of street and road lights in various areas, construction of boundary wall at the Garbage Transfer Station, construction of culverts on nallah at Akhtar Colony, and some others.

The schemes to be undertaken under ADP pertained to establishment of a college, besides extension and upgrading of schools, colleges and hospitals in the city.

Works and Services EDO informed the meeting that the schemes pertaining to installation of streetlights had been prepared on proposals and recommendations of the public representatives from various areas.

Sufficient funds were available under the CDGK budget for the purpose, and would be utilized after approval of the city nazim and concurrence of Finance and Planning department. District officer, Planning, said PC-1s of the schemes had to be made comprehensive by including all required information. -PPI
