LAHORE: Lahore basant festivities from Feb 6

LAHORE, Dec 30: The Punjab government decided on Thursday to hold Basant and Jashan-i-Baharan festivities in Lahore on Feb 6, announcing stern action against those found flying kites with metal wire.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting which was presided over by Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi here. The meeting was attended, among others, by chief secretary Kamran Rasool, Lahore Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood, secretaries of the home, information and law departments, DCO Khalid Sultan and DIG Tariq Salim Dogar.

The chief minister directed the officials concerned to prevent firing or hooliganism on Basant. "Arrest the owner of the house where anybody is found firing and proceed against the violators without caring for their rank and file," he directed.
