LAHORE, Dec 27: Defending champions Faisalabad will meet Peshawar in the five-day Quaid-i-Azam Trophy final to be started at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad from Tuesday.
Both the teams reached the final with 54 points with each team winning seven, losing one and involved in two draws.
Faisalabad emerged as top team on better run-rate and got the right of hosting the final. Faisalabad had strong batting line-up spearhead by Naved Latif, skipper Misbahul Haq and Ijaz Ahmed.
Pace man Shahid Nazir, who finished as top wicket taker of the league matches with 47, is a main weapon of the hosts. Wajahatullah Wasti is Peshawar's premier batsman. However, the visitors possessed quality attack in Waqar Ahmed, Fazle Akbar, Riaz Afridi and off-spinner Arshad Khan.
The winners will earn Rs 500,000 while the runners-up Rs 250,000. The Man-of-the-Final will pocket Rs 50,000. Besides it the best batsman, bowler and fielder of the trophy, included the final, will also be richer by a cash prize of Rs 50,000, each. Asad Rauf and Saleem Badar are umpires with Zameer Haider as TV umpire. Abdul Sami Khan is referee.
