Rivers flow improves further

LAHORE, May 27: The rising temperature helped further improve water in-flow at the principal dams on Monday. Indus at Tarbela touched 112,500 cusecs and Jhelum at Mangla 56,500 cusecs.

Chenab at Marala registered an in-flow of 46,900 cusecs and Kabul at Nowshera 44,400 cusecs. The total in-flow in rivers stood at 260,300 cusecs. Out of this 51,000 cusecs was stored and rest 209,300 cusecs released for irrigation. Water level at Mangla stood at 1,157.3 feet on Monday and at 1375.6 feet at Tarbela.

The Jinnah barrage had an in-flow of 159,200 cusecs and out-flow of 151,200 cusecs, Chashma 133,100 cusecs and 121,600 cusecs, Taunsa 111,800 and 87,500, Guddu 73,600 and 64,100 and Sukkur 53,600 and 25,100. The entire 3,900 cusecs in-flow at Kotri Barrage was stored.

The Chashma-Jhelum and Taunsa-Panjnad Link Canals were flowing at 8,000 cusecs and 12,000 cusecs, respectively. The Dera Ghazi Khan Canal was flowing at 5,300 cusecs, the Muzaffargarh Canal at 7,000 cusecs and the Chashma Right Bank Canal at 3,500 cusecs. —Staff Reporter
