ISLAMABAD, May 27: United Nations Industrial Development Organization is launching the Industrial Information Network project on May 29.
The project will become the largest source of information generation, exchange and dissemination for providing value-added support and services to the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the country.
This project has been jointly developed by the UNIDO, SME Bank, SMEDA and Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS).
It aims to provide an advice on the more effective and strategic aspects of business such as accessing trade information, communication and operations research and to enable SME to take full advantage of the opportunities made possible by information technology. In short, the IIN is designed to become one stop shop for SMEs for all their Information and e-commerce needs.
Mr Carlos Alfredo Magarinos, Director General, UNIDO is visiting Pakistan from May 27-30, on an invitation of the government.
He will be the chief guest on the occasion and will launch the Portal on May 29.
Dr Carlos Chanduvi UNIDO Representative Pakistan, Mr Iqbal Mustafa Chief Executive officer SMEDA, Dr Hameed Ahmed Khan Executive Director Comsats, Kaiser Naseem President SME Bank and Dr Akram Sheikh will also speak on the occasion.
