Ties with UK to improve: Rashid

ISLAMABAD, Dec 7: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, on Tuesday said that President General Pervez Musharraf's visit to the United Kingdom would further cement bilateral relations between the two countries.

It was the third visit of President Musharraf to the UK where he held a very cordial meeting with Prime Minister Tony Blair, the minister told the PTV. During the meeting a whole range of issues, including Kashmir, came under discussion, he said.

There had been certain mis-perceptions about Pakistan in that country, the minister said, adding that President Musharraf had very efficiently advocated his country's point of view.

The way the British media had given coverage to President Musharraf and the way his point of view had been appreciated, it was a great success for Pakistan, the minister said. After a successful visit to the United States and holding a very successful meeting with President Bush, President Musharraf was received very warmly in the UK, he added. -APP
