QUETTA, Dec 6: About 230 recruits of the Police Training College, who were dismissed on Friday, staged a demonstration in front of the local press club and a sit-in in front of the IGP office on Sunday to protest the government action on Sunday.
The protestors told newsmen that after five days' training they were expelled from the college without any reason. The protesters, shouting slogans, marched up to the IGP central office and staged a sit-in there. They dispersed when they were told by police officers that their problem had been resolved.
District Police Officer Quetta Pervaiz Rafi Bhatti told Dawn that the matter had been discussed with Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf who ordered the recruits' reinstatement. The DPO said they were appointed on posts that were not vacant, a result of IGP office staff's miscalculation.
