In this regard, he appreciated the cooperation extended by the Sanitary Market Association and Gulbahar Traders Association. He observed that the removal of the encroachments and reconstruction of the road would greatly help in improving traffic flow on this section of the road.

WEDDING MEAL: City Nazim Niamatullah Khan has said that the restriction retained by the Supreme Court on wedding feasts would prove to be an important step in efforts towards doing away with the wrong customs and traditions.

He was talking to a delegation of the All Pakistan Memon Federation, led by its President Qasim Khanani, which called on him on Wednesday. The General Secretary of the federation, Mohammed Saleem Parekh, Ghulam Ahmed Ismail and Abdul Razaq Viyani were other members of the delegation.

The city nazim had a detailed discourse with the delegation on the verdict and described it a welcome decision. He told the delegation that the poor people who were forced to make wasteful expenditures beyond their capacity will get relief as a result of the court's decision.

Mr Khan pointed out that in a large number of families, many marriages would not take place because the poor parents were unable to meet the expenditure on the so-called wedding customs. He promised that he would have this issue highlighted with the provincial government and would get the court decision strictly enforced. -APP
