Tariq Rahim meets Asif

KARACHI, Nov 24: Former Punjab governor Khwaja Tariq Rahim called on Asif Ali Zardari at Bilawal House on Wednesday and exchanged views with him for quite some time, sources said.

While he was governor, Khwaja Tariq had offered inducements and freedom to Mr Zardari but the latter had turned down offer.

Great significance is being attached to his meeting amid speculations about a wind of change. Many other PPP leaders met Mr Zardari who is apparently trying to tie up the loose ends of the party leadership in Punjab and elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Mr Zardari visited bereaved family of Munawwar Suhrawardy and offered his condolences. He deplored the government for its failure in apprehending killers of Mr Suhrawardy, Abdullah Murad and other prominent figures.
