ISLAMABAD, Nov 24: The European Commission has approved a project to support E-governance in the Punjab under its Asia Information Technology and Communications programme in Pakistan and granted EURO 200,000 (Rs14,880,000) for the implementation of action namely "Strengthening Legislation to facilitate E-Governance in the Punjab".

The project aims at improving the legislative and regulatory capacity of key government of Punjab departments to manage and sustain E-governance initiatives in the province.

The project will be implemented by Copenhagen Business School, Denmark (European partner) in association with Iqbal Hamid Trust, Pakistan with the support of Information Technology Department, the government of Punjab.

EDUCATION PROJECTS: The European Commission has launched two calls for proposals under its Asia-Link Programme, which aims at fostering regional and multilateral networking between higher education institutions in Europe and in developing countries in Asia, including Pakistan. Project proposals under these calls can be submitted by February 10 or May 19 next year.

The Commission has allocated an amount of 13.2 million Pounds for funding projects under these calls for proposals. The calls seek proposals for partnership projects focusing on human resource development, curriculum development and on institutional and systems development. -APP
