LANDI KOTAL, Nov 24: Khyber Agency Senator Hamidullah Jan Afridi has expressed satisfaction over the on going development in the area and rejected reports of any irregularities in the utilitization of funds.

Talking to a delegation of councillors in Bara on Wednesday, Senator Afridi said that the government had released sufficient funds for the construction of a seven-kilometres Fort Salop-Khuna Ziarath Road, another road from Navey Qamar to Khuna Ziarath and the construction of a hostel for government employees in Akakhel area.

He told Bara councilors that Dogra hospital was being provided with competent staff and quality equipment by the government. Apart from this, he said, separate power supply lines to Shah Kas and Qambarkhel areas would be provided.

Mr Afridi told the councilors that a stadium would be constructed at the Dogra Colony while Federally-Administered Tribal Areas' Education Department had agreed to upgrade more than a dozen girls and boys schools in the Bara sub-division.

He said that authorities would soon start work on the expansion project of Bara bazaar. The government, he said, also intends to establish an industrial zone in the Khyber Agency in near future.

DOCTORS STRIKE: Doctors' clinics and medicine shops in Bara remained closed for the second day on Wednesday in protest against the kidnapping of a chemist Munir Khan.

Bara President of Doctors and Chemists' Association Dr Niaz Badshah Afridi while addressing protesting doctors and chemists, alleged that the Bara political administration had failed to recover their abducted colleague despite their repeated appeals. He said their protest would continue till they were given an assurance by the administration about the recovery of their missing colleague.
