KARACHI, Nov 22: Philanthropists should come forward to get released the children languishing in jails along with their mothers due to non-payment of the fines imposed on them by courts.

This was stated by Sindh Home Minister Rauf Siddiqui and adviser to Sindh chief minister on Health Faisal Malik while speaking at a ceremony held to mark the Universal Children's Day on Monday organized by the Peace and Development Association.

Mr Siddiqui said that co-curricular activities could play a key role in the creation of a healthy society, and to build the character of the youth by bringing out their hidden abilities.

The government was making all out efforts for the development of the country, so that it could be transferred to the next generations in a developed shape, Mr Siddiqui said.

Faisal Malik said it was a collective responsibility to provide education to the children of poor and low-paid families to enable them to play their role as peace-loving and effective members of the society. Later, both ministers freed birds and visited stalls set up on the occasion. -PPI
