ISLAMABAD May 25: Chairman of Presidential Kashmir Committee Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan has rejected the package of concession announced by Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for Kashmiris.

Talking to newsmen at his residence on Saturday, Sardar Qayyum said that the war-mongering stance of India had put the future of 1250 million people of the Sub-continent in danger and the people of Indian occupied Kashmir would never accept the concessions package at any cost for it was a conspiracy to woo Kashmiri people to the sham elections.

He recalled that the elections under India were rejected by the United Nations Security Council in 1957, calling for a plebiscite to determine the will of the Kashmir people. Hence, Kashmiri people will not compromise on anything but their right to self-determination, he said.

Sardar Qayyum Khan said that India was aiming to show to the world a stooge assembly but the Kashmiris were not going to come into this trap again.

He linked the martyrdom of Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone to the same conspiracy as in his recent interview in Dubai Mr Lone had declared that the participation in any elections under India would be a betrayal to 85,000 martyrs of Kashmir.

Replying to a question he said that India was challenging the security of Pakistan through war threats but none of the two countries would get anything but destruction through the war.

In response to a question with regard to Indian government’s offer of talks to Hurriyat conference he said the Indian government could not achieve anything from the APHC after torturing and putting their leaders and supporters in jails.

The Kashmiri leader welcomed the peace mission and efforts of UK Secretary of State Jack Straw to ease tension between Pakistan and India.
