QUETTA, May 25: The federal government has released Rs330 million for Balochistan under Education Sector Reforms (ESR) and President Package during the current fiscal year.

This amount includes Rs176m for the President Package and Rs154m for ESR, and another Rs783m would also be provided to the province in this regard.

This was stated by Sajjad Akhtar, Focal Person Education For All and ESR, while speaking at the Radio news conference programme, Bil Mushafa, here on Saturday.

He said that the government promised to remove educational backwardness from this province and would bring it at par with other developed provinces in education sector.

Mr Sajjad said that workshops are being set up for technical education and teacher’s training in 123 schools in different districts of Balochistan.

He informed the news conference that an amount of Rs17.6m have been allocated for adult education and Rs9.0 million for scholarships which would be awarded to the technical trainees. Children in 22, 000 settlements of the province would also be given technical education, he added.

He said that government was taking various concrete steps for removing educational backwardness of the province and under the new system, they had also extend cooperation to the DCOs, Nazims, Naib Nazims and councillors.

He said training programmes had also been arranged, under the ESR project, for members of various committees including parents, teachers and student management committees.

The purpose of all these steps were to raise educational standard in the province and provide its schools with necessary education facilities.

Latest monitoring system had also been devised in this connection.
