QUETTA, Oct 7: Chief Minister Jam Muhammad Yousuf has assured the house that MPA's funds would no longer lapse at the end of financial year and the government would issue a necessary notification in this regard.
Meanwhile, Speaker Jamal Shah Kakar, presiding over the proceedings on Thursday, summoned PIA officials on Oct 19, in his chamber on a privilege motion of Shah Zaman Rind for denying boarding card to the legislator who had a confirmed ticket for Islamabad.
The chair admitted, after the approval from the house, an adjournment motion of opposition members for a general discussion on Saturday. The motion was related to non-availability of facilities in basic health centres. Another motion was disposed of as the chair pledged to convene a meeting regarding the grievances of the opposition members about the PSDP funds.
Concluding the debate on the adjournment motion of the opposition members, the chief minister announced, on the insistence of members from both sides of the house, that the MPAs fund in the public sector development programme would be time-bound from now on.
Jam Yousuf also assured the house that the government would not only transfer the district coordination officer, but also issue a show-cause notice to the official concerned who showed disrespect to the relevant MPA.
The chief minister directed the departments processing the MPAs development schemes to complete procedures in time to release the fund. Mr Jam said his government would run the administration according to the traditions of Balochistan and maintained that that the government would not only accommodate the members of this house, but also Senators and MNAs of the province would be provided facilities to resolve issues.
Senior Minister Maulana Wasay, opposition leader Kachkol Baloch, Mir Jan Jamali, Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal, Jaffar Khan Mandokhel, Sardar Sanaullah Zehri, Shah Zaman Rind, Jam Muhammad Buledi, stressed that the MPAs fund should not be allowed to lapse.
The PIA management also came under criticism during the speeches of Shah Zaman Rind, Jan Jamali and Abdur Rahim Ziaratwal on the privilege motion alleging that Quetta airport staff of the PIA created problems for MPAs and did not issue boarding cards, despite that they had confirmed tickets.
During the question hour, Minister for Local Bodies Hafiz Hussain Ahmed Shurudy informed the house that the provincial government on the recommendations of a committee had restored in July 2004 the cancelled plots in the Sanghar Housing Scheme.
He also stated that after the establishment of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), the government decided that all schemes in the district, including that of the Sanghar, would be dealt by the GDA. The session was adjourned till Saturday.
