TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 4: Students of the Government Commerce College blocked traffic on Toba-Rajana Road for over an hour on Monday to protest the attack on a group of students by outsiders.
Nasir exchanged harsh words with another student Musawwar who brought outsiders to take revenge. This provoked the college students and they not only boycotted the classes but also threw traffic out of gear. However, they ended their protest on the intervention of the college principal.
GANG RAPE: Four dacoits looted the house of a farmer and gang-raped his daughter at Chak 366-JB near Gojra on Monday. Armed bandits barged into Ishaq's house, held the inmates hostage and gathered cash, jewellery and valuables.
Later, the intruders took away 18 years old girl 'S' in a room and gang-raped her. On raising an alarm, the area people rushed to the spot but the bandits-cum-rapists fled with the booty. However, some people identified three of the four culprits as Maqbool, Shahbaz and Umer Hayat. Police have registered a case against the accused.
RESOLUTION: The Tehsil Council in its meeting unanimously passed a resolution in favour of President Pervez Musharraf's uniform. The meeting presided over by Naib Nazim Rana Abdul Majeed also passed another resolution in which it demanded of the government to start forthwith the construction of Kalabagh dam. In the third resolution, the house condemned the police for its failure in controlling the incidents of car lifting and theft.
STRIKE: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) staff observed a two-hour strike on Monday to press the management for the acceptance of their demands. The strike call was given by the central leadership of the PTCL's CBA union.
