HARIPUR, Oct 4: The English language will be used as the medium of instruction in the Government Model Middle School, Haripur, from the current academic session, sources in the EDO education office said.
Talking to Dawn here on Monday, they said following the previous provincial government's plan to introduce English medium classes in public sector educational institutions of the NWFP, an exercise was undertaken on an experimental basis in some schools, which received a positive response from the community.
A government-approved curriculum for English medium schools was introduced from class six at the Government Centennial High School for Boys, Haripur, about two years back, they added.
A plan for launching English medium classes from Nursery to class 5 in the Government Model Middle School for Boys, Haripur, had also been approved by the EDO education, the sources said.
Meanwhile, according to Union Council Central Nazim Qazi Mohammad Raza, who also heads the Saifia Mohammadia Welfare Society Haripur, a NGO, his society would provide books and uniforms to over 100 students of the Model Middle School from this year.
