LAHORE, Sept 30: The national horse and cattle show will be held in the first week of March next year at the Fortress Stadium. This was decided at a meeting which was presided over by Law Minister Raja Basharat here on Thursday.

The secretaries of various departments, officials of the district government and senior army officers attended the meeting.

The meeting constituted various committees to organize the show. The law minister directed the heads of all committees to prepare budget estimates and preliminary arrangements within 15 days. The information department was directed to submit proposals for an attractive night show.

Mr Basharat directed all the DCOs, TMAs, Nazims and Naib Nazims to hold mini-horse and cattle shows with the collaboration of the livestock department. Meanwhile, the provincial steering committee which met under the law minister approved 102 development projects worth Rs45 million under the Tameer-i-Punjab Programme.

The projects included construction of roads, sanitation, provision of potable water and power. The minister ordered establishment of an effective monitoring system for the development projects.
