ISLAMABAD, Sept 30: A free legal camp was arranged by the Advice and Legal Aid Centre (ALAC), a project of an NGO, for Afghan refugees at Bari Imam on Thursday, says a press release.

A large number of Afghan refugees living in nearby areas attended the camp and discussed their problems with a team of lawyers. Most of the Afghan refugees living in Bari Imam area are labourers and their children sell flowers at the shrine.

Some of the refugees complained about the police harassment. The refugees have been asked to inform the ALAC in case of arrest or police harassment. The refugees also informed the lawyers that the government had not so far issued them registration cards.

They also expressed their concern over the non-availability of educational facilities for their children. Earlier, the ALAC also arranged a training camp for the Afghan refugees on the topic of "Refugees' Rights and Responsibilities in Country of Asylum" in collaboration with the UNHCR on Wednesday.
