LAHORE, Sept 29: The City District Government is trying to evolve a balanced parking plan for solving traffic problems on account of haphazard parking in commercial centres.

District Nazim Mian Amer said this while presiding over a meeting held to review the growing traffic problems being created due to roadside parking here on Wednesday. District Coordination Officer Khalid Sultan, Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency Managing Director Khalid Yousaf, Chief Engineer Khushhal Khan, SP Traffic and parking plaza owners attended the meeting.

The Nazim said the traffic problems were not being solved despite lifting of wrongly parked motor vehicles and imposing fines on the owners. It had now been decided to demolish all constructions on parking spaces in the plazas to ensure parking of the vehicles being parked along the roads.

It was decided to provide a median on the road running between Hafeez Centre and Pace on Gulberg's Main Boulevard and disallow all kinds of parking on its sides for ensuring smooth flow of traffic.

Meanwhile, District Naib Nazim Farooq Amjad Mir has ordered registration of a case against the LDA Plaza, Court Street, parking stand contractor for overcharging and using City District Government slips. The parking stand is owned by Data Ganj Bakhsh Town.
