KARACHI: Amenity plot being used as school

KARACHI, Sept 28: An amenity plot allotted for construction of a women's complex was being used as school, the Sindh High Court nazir submitted on Tuesday.

The plot, ST-25/B, Block 4, Scheme 5, Clifton, was leased out to the Pakistan Association of Women Entrepreneurs in the late 1990s for the construction of a women's complex.

A basement and two floors were constructed on the plot but the KBCA alleged that the basement was being used for residential purposes and the ground and first floors for housing a school.

It also found the structure grossly violative of the building plan sanctioned by it. The KBCA issued the allottee association a notice, withdrew the 'approved plan' and subsequently demolished the first floor.

The association approached the high court and instituted a suit against the KBCA. The court deputed its nazir to inspect the site to examine the veracity of the claimes.

As the case came up before Justice S. Ali Aslam Jafri, the nazir submitted his inspection report which denied that the basement was being used for residential purposes. The court declined the plaintiffs' plea for an interim order to restrain the KBCA and adjourned further hearing of the case to Oct 4.
