MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 26: Indian troops fired shots injuring a girl in a southern border village of Azad Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC), a police official told Dawn here on Sunday.

The incident occurred in Darra Sher Khan village of district Poonch which lies close to the heavily militarized LoC, said the official who requested anonymity.

"The 20-year-old victim identified as Ms Zain Akhtar was cutting fodder near the LoC when she was hit by the Indian bullets on Saturday evening," he said, adding that the victim was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in the neighbouring Kotli district by her parents. However, there was no immediate confirmation of the incident from the Pakistan army.
