QUETTA, Sept 26: Pakistan Telecommunication Company has decided to regularise all daily wage workers in Balochistan. "Their regularization will be completed in different phases ," Muamber Shahzada, the phone company's general manager told this correspondent on Saturday.

He said that the striking daily wages employees, who were still on a token strike, had been informed about the decision. He said that there were three categories of daily wage employees in the province. They include ad hoc employees, work- charge and telecom workers employed by divisional engineers for different projects, he added.

He said that there were there were only 67 ad hoc and work- charge employees working for the PTCL in Balochistan, while 511 such employees belonged to the Telecom Foundation, adding that their wages would be paid through the telecom foundation.

He said that lists of these employees had been sent to the company's headquarters along with their complete record and the issue would be resolved soon. He said that vacancies were available in PTCL in Balochistan, adding that they would be adjusted in phases.

However, the protesting workers continued their token hunger strike and announced that they would continue with their protest until the regularization of their service.
