KARACHI, Sept 26: The Governor, Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, has directed concerned authorities to provide all possible facilities to private schools situated in low and middle class areas , besides calling for a positive attitude towards them from the concerned departments.

He observed that private institutions were a helping hand in promoting education, and who had assumed a responsibility of serving the people. He was talking to a delegation of the Private Schools Management Association that called on him at the Governor House the other day. The delegation was led by Sharfuzzaman, Jamal Siddiqui and Mushtaq Bhatti.

The delegation informed the governor about their recommendations concerning the educational board, education department and the KESC. Mr Ibad agreed to their suggestion concerning the formulation of a system of transparent inspection of schools, and issued directives in this regard.

He also directed that examination forms be made available on the educational board's website instead of its sale through banks, adding that charges for the forms, if needed, could be received with the exam fees. He also directed that the board's website be kept active and updated.

Directions for setting up a separate counter at the board for teachers, both government and private, were also issue, adding that a respectful attitude was needed towards teachers. He also approved representation of private schools in the board.

The governor stressed upon the need for reforms and updating of rules and regulations of the board. He also directed for just distribution of internal and external practical marks during exams along with elimination of a biased behaviour.

He also highlighted making the registration of schools easy and transparent besides making the EOBI and social security departments education friendly. The delegation appreciated efforts of the governor for bringing electricity rates in Karachi at par with those in other parts of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ibad urged upon keeping good education standards at institutions, while asking teachers to preach social norms and ethics along with the regular curricula.

He said serious efforts were needed to save the coming generations from negative aspects of social and economical problems and making them productive in a positive manner.

He maintained that home and schools were the basic training centres for children, and added that children were admitted to schools with the intention to get them further trained and educated.
