NEW DELHI, Sept 24: Two Nepalese Maoists have been sentenced to death in Tibet for smuggling weapons to fight government troops in Nepal, India's Zeenews channel reported on Friday from Kathmandu.
It quoted the Kantipur newspaper as identifying the men as Hiralal Shrestha and Gyalgen Tamang. They were sentenced recently by a court in Xigatse, while two more Nepalis were given seven and four years in prison, respectively, the newspaper said.
The four were arrested last year in the border town of Khasa, it said. Nepal's government and the Amnesty International have urged China to spare the lives of the men sentenced to death.
