LAHORE, May 24: Governor Lt-Gen Khalid Maqbool (retired) approved on Friday the creation of Punjab Management Service to replace the former Punjab Local Council Service and redesignation of the posts of additional district officer (Revenue) as deputy district officer.

The approval was granted following a presentation by the additional chief secretary, Mian Muhammad Jamil, on the restructuring of provincial government in view of the devolution of powers to district level.

The governor stressed the need for formal training of new officers and re-training of those in the general pool.

The governor also directed the provincial departments to develop and update the charter of duties for various officers posted at the district and tehsil level for a trouble-free inter-action.
