Four of a family die in road accident

GUJRANWALA, May 24: Four people, including two brothers and their cousin, were killed while three others sustained injuries on Friday in a road mishap on the GT Road near Ghakkhar town.

Occupants of a car (LXE-2406) were on their way to Lahore from Wazirabad. As the car reached near Ghakkhar town, it crashed into a Peshawar-bound bus (PE-6730) due to the bursting of one of its tyres. Shehzad Mughal, Tahir Mughal, their cousin Adnan Mughal and Asif Masih of Wazirabad died instantly while Ghulam Mujtaba and two bus passengers Kamran Khan and Aisha Khanam of Peshawar sustained wounds. They were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital from where Mujtaba was shifted to Mayo Hospital, Lahore, for his serious condition.

Cantonment police have taken the bus into its custody and registered a case against the absconding crew.

QUALITY EXPORTS: An exhibition of made in Gujranwala quality products has helped increased an export of 170 million dollars.

This was stated by city tehsil Naib Nazim Ehsanullah Chaudhry while speaking at a meeting of the local chamber of commerce and industry here on Friday.

He said the export of made in Gujranwala products had reached 335 million dollars from 165 million dollars which was quite encouraging.

He urged the industrialists and manufacturers to produce standard and quality products to compete in the international market.

Mr Chaudhry expressed his hope that with the boosting of industry, the city tehsil council would earn handsome amount in taxes.
